Brian graduated from Massey in 1996 then headed off to a rural practice in Wellsford. From there he moved to a mixed animal practice in Whangarei, before taking off on the big OE where he was based in a small village North East of London doing a variety of small and large animal work.
At the end of 2003 he and his fiancé decided it was time to stop playing and moved back to New Zealand where a job was waiting for him in Waipu. After gaining valuable experience working for a number of different clinics over the previous 10 years, it was time to settle down. In 2006 an opportunity arose to join the team at Dargaville Vets, where Brian and his family have since made their home.
Brian works mainly with dairy farmers and enjoys helping to create a ‘whole farm’ management plan. Part of his dairy focus has resulted in working alongside Dairy NZ to become an accredited Healthy Hoof provider, Body Condition Score assessor, and trained InCalf advisior. Brian is actively involved in the Northland Agricultural Research Farm (NARF) on the management committee.
When he isn’t at work, Brian enjoys cycling and competing in the odd event around the country. He can also be found on the hockey field playing twilight games and trying to keep up with the younger players.
He and his wife along with their 2 young daughters, live on a lifestyle block with sheep, chickens, 2 dogs and a good sized cat. He also co-owns a local dairy farm where he can be found treating his own cows (putting all that advice he gives, into practice).
